The BWB Team

Looking to the future of BWB and flame photometry

BWB Technologies' flame photometer range consistently pushes the boundaries of low-temperature flame photometry. Our entire team is incredibly passionate and we collectively aim to constantly redefine what can be achieved with a flame photometer.

As we approach the end of the year, we thought this was the perfect time to sit down with our Managing Director Hozan Edwards and talk through our plans for the future, looking to 2025 and beyond!

See what Hozan has to say below;

What does the future hold for BWB Technologies?

As with any business, BWB will continue to grow and expand. We’ll continue to invest in product development, ensuring that our instruments remain at the cutting edge.

We have some exciting announcements to make before the end of the year and those will only continue over the next 5 years as we also push towards becoming the first flame photometer manufacturer to be B Corp certified.

Are there any specific products you are working on?

We never stop designing and enhancing. We’ve always got product developments on the go, whether it be optimising certain parts within our existing system or creating a new instrument.

Our R&D team at BWB is always kept busy, and we love to hear feedback from customers to guide product development.

Are you looking to expand your worldwide distributors?

Yes of course, but we won’t simply appoint anybody. All of our distributors undergo a rigorous application process to ensure that they meet our expectations and are able to hold the values of our business throughout their dealings with local customers.

Customer service is of high priority to us and not just in advance of the sale, but more critically, afterwards too.

How do you see the industry changing?

The industry has already changed to some extent over the last few years, labs are starting to focus on their operational costs and the costs of conducting analysis. We’re now finding that many labs, including those at the high end of the pharma spectrum, where budgets were typically considered much larger, are purchasing flame photometers to replace procedures previously carried out on atomic absorption. And it’s clear to see why, when analysing our core elements the cost per sample can be considerable orders of magnitude less than the expensive Absorption methods.

Looking further ahead though I think sustainability and a manufacturer’s ability to prove their claims will become a greater area of focus.

What about the software side of things?

Software is only going to advance, we’re already working on a new software package that offers considerable benefits to the user for data retention and security.

There’s a wide range of legislation out there that labs are adopting as routine and best practice so we’re designing the software to comply with these, offering a customer an easy-to-implement package.

As Hozan mentioned, customer feedback is incredibly important to the BWB team. The best ideas have always come from our customers and you can submit a new idea for the team here.
