What is Flame Photometry?
Flame photometry, also known as flame emission spectrometry, is an analytical technique used to detect and measure the concentration of certain metal ions, including lithium, sodium, potassium, calcium, barium and in some cases, caesium. This method involves introducing a sample into a flame, causing the metal ions to excite and emit light at characteristic wavelengths. The intensity of this emitted light is proportional to the concentration of the specific metal ion in the sample, allowing for quantitative analysis.
