BWB Technologies is proud to announce its corporate membership with the Woodland Trust, the UK's largest woodland conservation charity. Our contribution to support the Woodland Trust reflects our long‑standing commitment to environmental responsibility, not just through carbon reduction, but through meaningful action that protects and restores the natural world we all depend on.
Founded in 1972 in Devon, the Woodland Trust cares for more than 1,000 woods across the UK, supported by over 500,000 members and supporters, and managing around 33,000 hectares of land. Their work spans England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland, safeguarding ancient woodland, restoring damaged habitats, and creating new woods for future generations.
Why Supporting Environmental Charities Matters
Environmental charities like the Woodland Trust play a vital role in tackling climate change, biodiversity loss, and habitat degradation. Their impact is measurable; in 2024–25 alone, the Trust planted more than five million new trees and spent £15.3 million protecting woods, trees and the wildlife that lives there, including Britain’s threatened rainforests.
Corporate support helps the Woodland Trust fund land acquisition, tree planting, habitat restoration, and public access initiatives such as walking trails and community woodlands. These efforts don't just improve the environment; they improve quality of life, public wellbeing, and local resilience.
Trees and Climate Resilience: A Growing Need
Recent UK heatwaves have highlighted the urgent need for more trees, especially in towns and cities. According to the Woodland Trust, urban areas are experiencing rising temperatures that threaten public health, infrastructure, and biodiversity. Trees help regulate heat, reduce air pollution, and create cooler, more liveable spaces, making woodland creation and protection a critical climate adaptation strategy for the UK's future.
Why We Chose the Woodland Trust
For BWB, sustainability is not a marketing exercise; it's a responsibility. As Managing Director Hozan Edwards explains:
“Sustainability is about creating meaningful, measurable impact rather than simply being able to say you've contributed. For several years we've supported international reforestation projects that delivered real environmental and social benefits, but we felt it was the right time to focus our efforts closer to home."
Supporting the Woodland Trust by becoming a corporate member ensures that our annual investment directly supports the protection and restoration of the UK's native woodlands. These ecosystems are essential for biodiversity, carbon storage, flood mitigation, and community wellbeing.
Hozan continues, "By seeking a corporate membership with the Woodland Trust, we know our annual investment is helping to protect and restore the UK's native woodlands, supporting biodiversity and creating lasting benefits for the communities and landscapes around us. Their reputation, transparency and long-term commitment gave us confidence that every contribution will make a genuine difference. As a British manufacturer, it's important to us that we're not only reducing our environmental footprint but also investing in the natural environment that surrounds us."
More Than Carbon Offsetting
While reducing our carbon footprint is essential, BWB's environmental strategy goes further. Our Environmental Policy outlines our commitment to responsible resource use, pollution prevention, and continuous improvement across our operations. As an ISO 14001‑certified organisation, we operate a robust Environmental Management System that ensures our actions are measurable, accountable, and aligned with global best practice.
Our B Corp™ certification further reinforces this commitment. Sustainable environmental management is one of the core pillars of the B Corp framework, and our support for the Woodland Trust shows how we integrate sustainability into our business model; not as an add‑on, but as a defining value.
Investing in the Future
The Woodland Trust's mission, “a world where woods and trees thrive for people and nature.” aligns perfectly with BWB's vision for long‑term environmental responsibility. Their work ensures that today's efforts will benefit tomorrow's communities, landscapes, and ecosystems.
By supporting their work to create new native woodland, restore damaged habitats, and protect ancient woods, we are investing in cleaner air, cooler cities, thriving wildlife, and healthier communities. We are helping to shape a resilient, biodiverse, and sustainable future for the UK and making a positive impact on the global climate.
